Tragedy struck on the early morning of October 1, 2023, when a pedestrian lost their life in a collision involving a Walmart truck on the southbound 15 freeway in Victorville, California. The incident occurred around 3:04 a.m., just north of the Stoddard Wells Road off-ramp.

According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Walmart 18-wheeler big rig pulled over to the right-hand shoulder after the accident and immediately dialed 911 for assistance. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and discovered the deceased pedestrian in the lanes of traffic.

In response to the incident, CalTrans enforced a hard closure of the no. 3 and no. 4 lanes, and by 4:30 a.m., the coroner had arrived to take possession of the body. The identity of the deceased individual will be disclosed once their next of kin has been notified.
