On June 24, 2025, a violent collision around East Olympic Boulevard and Naomi Avenue led to two individuals sustaining severe injuries after being ejected from their vehicle. According to KTLA, the crash occurred at 2:30 a.m.; it was believed by investigators that one of the vehicles failed to stop at a red light, leading to a collision with a forklift. The driver of the vehicle and the forklift operator were ejected.

A study published in 2019 titled New cars on the highways: Trends in injuries and outcomes following ejection concluded that “Although the incidence of occupant ejection during MVC is decreasing, when accounting only for variables from the scene of injury, ejection from a motor vehicle remains a significant predictor of mortality and severe trauma.”
Click It or Ticket: California’s Seat Belt Law
Wearing a seat belt in California is not a choice – if you want to adhere to the law. California introduced the Click It Or Ticket campaign back in 2005, with officers being diligent about finding drivers (and passengers) who neglect to wear their seat belts.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, those in violation of California’s seat belt laws will face a fine of $162; however, failing to restrain a child (under the age of 16) can lead to a fine of $490.
